Volunteering is the easiest way get involved and meet people -- and it's a ton of fun! Our zone is one where work and play are kinda the same thing, so jump in with both feet and have a blast. Check out the various teams we have handling different aspects of each burn, and contact the team lead of your group of choice to join. Here's a list of areas where you can help:
The Gate's job is to get every Gateway burner into the event safely, while keeping out stowaways, potential MOOP-makers, firearms, fireworks and pets.
Duties include:
Because of the nature of these tasks, we ask that Gatekeepers stay relatively sober. Don't worry, this doesn't preclude a few beers here and there. :)
Do you like to drink wine?
Do you like toga parties?
Do you like to say "Welcome Home"?
Do you like to have fun with newbies?
Do you want to hangout at one of the coolest places at Gateway?
Then volunteer to be a Greeter.
Spend a few hours enjoying the comfort and joys of the Burner Gods or Goddesses. Welcome Burners into the land of the Goddesses(and gods) on top of Mount Gateway. Embark your godly burner wisdom about the Ten Principles upon every burner you greet, and allow the wrath of the gods to come down upon those who are not open to learning from the wisdom of the gods.
Responsiblities include:

Join Us! - What better way to reach out and get others to deMOOP as you go. Let's continue to generate excitement about MOOPing - can you pick up a shiny metal object on a dime? We go out each day (the earlier the better) and occasionally in the late afternoons to deMOOPify the pristine land we get to use and make sure it stays that way.
Wanna be involved? Join the Arch Support Services and lend a hand at the event building the infrastructure of Gateway. In addition to the respect of your peers you will also have a hand in making this event a reality. Remember this is your burn so let's see some participation for the department of public works. We are accepting volunteers of all levels of experience and physical ability. Come on out and learn how to build something with your own hands and the help of some friends.
Rangers are the eyes and ears for the event. Our job is to keep an eye on things and make sure everyone is having a good time. If someone looks like they need help, we check it out and get them help. We are also trained to mediate disputes. Volunteers with medical training may join the Medical team, who will take turns being on-call during the event. Volunteers who have not previously Rangered at other burn events must attend a 4-hour training prior to the event; contact the Ranger Lead to schedule a training session. Interested Rangers and Medical volunteers can contact the Ranger Lead tara at seanbranch dot com, who will subscribe you to the Gateway Rangers email list.
We are in the process of recruiting medical volunteers for the gateway burn this year. Anyone with any medical background is encouraged to volunteer their time with us. Anyone interested should be BLS/CPR/First Aid certified and provide a copy of your BLS /CPR/First Aid card. We will have a medical tent or medical station with an easy-up/carport and hopefully a couple of cots-which brings me to my next request: -We need two or three cots for the medical station..no fun being sick, wounded or dead and having to lie on the hard ground... ..We are still working on a creative name for ourselves as well as some creative uniforms...anyone with any ideas feel free to throw them out there! Thanks!
The effigy this year has not been decided on yet. Effigy build days will be announced on this website. You can submit your effigy plan or idea here.
