2009 Gateway Burn - June 12th - 14th

What is the Gateway Burn?

Contents...

The Gateway Burn is a three-day camping event that upholds the principles of Burning Man. We will gather to build a sense of community, a community of radical self-expression, radical inclusion, decommodification, radical self-reliance, communal effort. Together we will create, dance, sing and celebrate.

The event is entirely organized and staffed by volunteers. The goals of the Gateway Burn will never include making money. No cash transactions are permitted at the Gateway Burn. There are no concession stands. This is a gift-based economy. If you need something, ask. If you have it, share!

All participants are expected pack out what they packed in, and are encouraged to recycle what they can. This is a strict Leave No Trace event.

Theme: Archaic Revival

Every act of kindness and every atrocity, every whore and every goddess, every war and every union, every act of being stems from that pool of primordial ooze at the beginning of time. Sometimes you must retrace your steps to find what you've lost. Come be a celebrant in the Archaic Revival and retrace your steps back toward that pool of primordial ooze. There are many paths to explore and many forgotten things to rediscover along the way, where and how far back you go is entirely up to you.

Rediscover forgotten ways of self expression and experiencing life and consciousness. Cover your body in clay and dance around a fire, become a fantastical creature from forgotten lore, don your finest tribal fashion and body paint, honor the forgotten gods and goddesses of your ancestors, or maybe go all the way back and re-imagine your own path of creation. We will celebrate and remember, fires will burn, all of these things will be found. The Archaic Revival will be your gateway.
