What?

The Gateway Burn is a four-day camping event that upholds the ten principles of Burning Man. We will gather to build a sense of community, a community of radical self-expression, radical inclusion, decommodification, radical self-reliance, communal effort. Together we will create, dance, sing and celebrate.

The event is entirely organized and staffed by volunteers. The goals of the Gateway Burn will never include making money. No cash transactions are permitted at the Gateway Burn. There are no concession stands. This is a gift-based economy. If you need something, ask. If you have it, share!

All participants are expected pack out what they packed in, and are encouraged to recycle what they can. This is a strict Leave No Trace event.

This year's theme...

On October 9th 2009 two NASA spacecraft intentionally slammed into the Cabeus lunar crater, kicking up 25+ gallons of water.

Reality being perception, before October 9th there was not water on the moon; now there is.

Impossibilities turn into realities all the time, creating paradigm shifts. They happen in small and giant shifts until the world we live in becomes a world that previously appeared as insanity and fiction.

We are at Gateway Burn 2010 to explore the transition of impossibilities into realities.

Does the new Universe we live in, with water on the Moon, suggest there are other as yet undiscovered impossibilities in our solar system that could dictate the near future development of our everyday society?

At one time people believed...

• There is nothing beyond the horizon.
• The Earth is flat.
• The Sun revolves around the Earth.
• Man is not made to fly.
• There is no such thing as microscopic life.
• Man will never walk on the Moon.
• The atom is the smallest particle.
• There is no water on the Moon.
• Cold Fusion will never be practical.
• Nothing travels faster than light.
• Teleportation is impossible.
• Time travel is science fiction.
• Immortality is unattainable.

The easiest way to figure out how to get there is to click the pinpoint on the map and select "directions" to get point-to-point directions from wherever you're coming from. In the absence of technology, the entrance is along Highway 19, 27.5 miles south of Salem, MO or 8.7 miles north of Venice, MO.
